Hi, we are wandering mr and missy

Chantilly

Chantilly is a picturesque town located in the Oise department of northern France, just 50 kilometers north of Paris. Renowned for its stunning Château de Chantilly, a grand historic castle surrounded by extensive gardens and a vast park, the town is a treasure trove of art and history. The château houses the Musée Condé, which boasts an impressive collection of paintings, manuscripts, and antique books.

Chantilly is also famous for its equestrian heritage, hosting the prestigious Chantilly Racecourse and the Living Museum of the Horse, which showcases the deep-rooted connection between the region and horse culture. The town’s charming streets are lined with quaint shops, cafés, and restaurants, inviting visitors to enjoy its culinary delights, including the celebrated Chantilly cream.

The surrounding natural beauty, with the vast Chantilly Forest nearby, offers numerous opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling. Overall, Chantilly seamlessly blends history, culture, and nature, making it a delightful destination for those seeking a taste of French elegance and charm

[and of course – some Chantilly (or whipped cream in American english!)].

Senlis

Senlis is only about 15 minutes from Chantilly. There is a train from Paris that only takes about 25 minutes to get to Chantilly, but to continue to Senlis, you will have to take a bus (if you are relying on public transportation).

I fell in love with this town immediately, well maybe not the outskirts but the town center is just incredibly historic and absolutely picturesque. One of those French towns that you just want to move to because it is so quaint, but not too small! It has quite a few options for food and drink – and just a really nice overall feel. This is a must if you are out touring towns close to Paris. Put Senlis right at the top of your list!

Senlis is a charming commune also located in the Oise department of northern France, northeast of Paris. Rich in history, Senlis dates back to ancient times, with a heritage that includes remnants from the Roman era, medieval architecture, and Renaissance influences. The town is characterized by its narrow, winding streets lined with half-timbered houses, cobblestones, and quaint shops that create a picturesque atmosphere.

The centerpiece of Senlis is its stunning cathedral, the Cathédrale Notre-Dame, a remarkable example of Gothic architecture that has been a focal point of the town since the 12th century. Surrounding the cathedral are remnants of the old city walls, which add to the historical ambiance. The town is also known for its beautiful gardens and parks, providing serene spots for relaxation.

Senlis boasts a vibrant cultural scene, with various festivals and events throughout the year that celebrate local traditions and art. The town’s proximity to the expansive Chantilly Forest makes it a popular destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Overall, Senlis offers a delightful blend of history, culture, and natural beauty, making it a hidden gem in the heart of France.❤️
