In this podcast episode, we start the dialogue about how fear can prevent you from making decisions or taking actions towards living a life you truly want.

We begin the conversation and a discussion into the concept of taking unconventional paths in life, inspired by Robert Frost’s poem ‘The Road Not Taken.’

We share personal anecdotes highlighting key moments when we have diverged from the expected routes to follow our passions. Keith recounts his decision in college to leave the possibility of a medical career to pursue photography, a choice met with skepticism by most except his supportive mother.

Melissa shares her experience of leaving a high-stress corporate job in New York City to join Keith in running their photography business.

What makes us choose the road more frequently taken? Why do we let fear stop us from taking the road we truly want?

We reflect on having a dream board, vocalizing perhaps 15 years ago our desire to move to Paris, a choice driven by our love of the French way of living and wanting to be more present with our children and to transition our photography businesses from fast paced to a more lifestyle based business.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
