This journey continues to become more real every single day. Six months ago we weren’t quite ready to make this move so permanent. But then everything started lining up in a way that compelled me to take that first step.
Leaving the comfort of what you know to discover the path of the next chapter. So here I am. Looking for an apartment in Montpellier.
Guys I’m pinching myself. This apartment is exactly what I have dreamt of since I was a little girl. A Parisian inspired home.
It is breathtakingly gorgeous. It was love at first sight. In fact it looks so similar to the apartments I pin on pinterest for my ‘french home’ that I knew what apartment I was looking for before I even saw it.
I keep saying I, because I am here with my daughter Isabella. The other half of the family, my husband and second daughter have given us the go ahead to make a decision without them.
On our first visit with the agent [and my helping hand with this whole experience, the incredible Emmanuel from Renestance], we knew this was the one. In fact we had only seen one other apartment, but we knew the minute we saw the exterior doors to the apartment that this was going to be it.
So we took an Iphone video and a few photos to share with our other half. And they concurred, it looked perfect.
Sophisticated, spacious with tons of history. On the inside I was jumping up and down, this was the apartment of my dreams. All the architectural details, floor to ceiling windows, original shutters, fireplaces, floors and mirrors. Yet 100% recently renovated with the most gorgeous modern finishes. We will be the first family to live here since the renovation.
From what we understand from the owner of this apartment building, it was built in 1620. We plan on doing more research and sharing this history because it clearly has ALOT. More on that to come.
Did I mention that we are smack dab in the middle of the historic city center? Walking distance to absolutely everything? All the restaurants, cafes, wine shops, boutiques, my new coiffure is steps from the door, Isabella’s french language school is a 3 minute walk and the tram lines are all around the old walled part of the city.
Now to furnish and decorate this magestic apartment. I want to take it slow and make thoughtful decisions. This apartment is special and the interior needs to reflect that. Can’t wait to share how it comes along over the next several months.
