Hi, we are wandering mr and missy

Even though I live in Paris, I’m still a tourist. I love travel, even more so when it isn’t crowded. So when my sister suggested 3 days in Rome this January, I jumped at the chance.

I know many folks prefer to visit Europe when it is warm and sunny, but that weather comes with tourists galore – and that is something that I don’t love about travel.

Paris in January is outstanding, chilly of course, but no lines, access to practically everything without crowds, you have the place to yourself (well that might be hyperbole but you know what I mean, it’s as close as you are going to get!)

Rome was incredible in January, great weather, loads of sun and we were able to explore and discover at our own pace. It was lovely. Which prompted me to write this short little post!

6 Reason to Visit Europe in the Winter. Especially in January, during the off-season, can be a delightful experience for several reasons:

  1. Fewer Crowds: With fewer tourists around, you can explore famous landmarks and other tourist attractions without the long lines and bustling crowds. This allows for a more enjoyable and intimate experience.
  2. Lower Prices: Accommodation and flight prices tend to be lower in January, making it more budget-friendly. You can find great deals on hotels and dining options.
  3. OK Weather: While it can be chilly, you can enjoy walking around without the sweltering heat of summer and the crowds.
  4. Cultural Events: January often features local festivals and events, which includes processions and celebrations, giving you a taste of local culture.
  5. Authentic Experience: With fewer tourists, you can experience Europe more like a local, from dining at local eateries to exploring neighborhoods that are often overlooked in peak season.
  6. Stunning Winter Scenery: Most of Europe takes on a different charm in winter, with beautiful decorations and a unique atmosphere that can be quite magical, especially if it snows.

Overall, January offers a unique opportunity to experience the rich history and culture of Europe in a more personal and relaxed manner.
